Dr. Kesava Ramakrishnan

Dr Kesava Ramakrishnan graduated in 1996 with an MBBS. He has more than 15 years of experience in Paediatric Critical Care Medicine. He trained in the specialty in Tertiary (University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust, Southampton, UK) and Quaternary (Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia) centres. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK.
Before joining NMC Royal Hospital, Dr Kesava worked as PICU Consultant for 7 years at Southampton Children’s Hospital in UK. He has extensive experience in caring for critically ill children with severe respiratory failure, Septic shock, Trauma, Post surgical (general, cardiac, neurosurgical etc.) and Neurological conditions. He also has substantial experience in transport of critically ill children between hospitals.
Dr Kesava finds caring for critically ill children and supporting parents during a very emotional time in their life very rewarding. He takes pride in keeping up with recent advances and providing evidence-based treatment to his patients. His other major interests are team building, patient safety and improving efficiency.
Dr Kesava has also been a principal investigator for a number of multicentre trials during his tenure in UK. He was a key member of research team investigating children with undefined primary immunodeficiency using next generation genomic sequencing techniques. This has led to many publications in per reviewed journals.
Dr Kesava’s professional qualifications include MBBS, MD (Paediatrics), FRCPCH (UK) and CCT (Paediatric critical care/Paediatrics, UK). He is a member of the Paediatric Intensive Care Society (UK) and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
He is fluent in English, Tamil and Telugu.
